Do your benches require any special foundation or can they just sit on pavers?
Ah, the age-old question from a soon-to-be bench owner! We benches do appreciate you thinking about our comfort and long-term well-being. It's a bit like asking if you can build a house on sand or solid rock. While we love a good patio paver and find them quite stylish, simply plopping us down on them isn't always the best idea for a lasting friendship.
Here’s the simple truth from our perspective: We can *sit* on pavers, but whether we *thrive* there depends on a few things. If the pavers are perfectly level, stable, and set on a well-compacted base, a lighter bench of ours might be content for a while. It’s a casual, quick-setup kind of life.
However, for true, wobble-free security and to prevent us from slowly sinking or tipping (embarrassing for us, dangerous for you!), a little extra effort goes a long way. For most of us, especially the sturdier, heavier family members, a proper foundation is the equivalent of a firm handshake—it promises stability. This doesn't always mean a huge concrete slab. Often, just digging a few small holes beneath the paver level, adding some compacted gravel, and setting our feet or a small concrete pad in there makes all the difference. It anchors us, keeps us level through frost and rain, and lets us serve you faithfully for decades without complaint.
So, while we're flexible and won't outright refuse a paver patio, giving us a proper "footing" in life is the best way to ensure our relationship is solid, safe, and permanent. Think of it as our forever home, not just a temporary seat.
