Once the installation is complete and the final stone is set, I don’t just walk away. I know that like a living garden, every landscape facility needs ongoing attention to stay safe, beautiful, and functional. So what kind of maintenance do I offer?

First, I treat hardscapes as if they were my own skin. I regularly inspect patios, retaining walls, and walkways for cracks, settling, or loose joints. If I find a weakened paver or a stone that’s shifted, I lift, reset, and re-compact the base – no waiting for problems to grow. I also power-wash stained surfaces gently, using eco-friendly detergents that won’t harm nearby plants.

Water features – ponds, fountains, and irrigation systems – are my second priority. I check pumps for debris, clean filters monthly, and balance algae growth with natural treatments. I winterize pipes before frost hits and restart them in spring, ensuring no hidden leaks waste a single drop.

Wooden structures like pergolas, decking, and fences I treat personally. I sand down splinters, reseal exposed grain, and replace any rot-damaged boards before they compromise the whole frame. Painted or stained surfaces get a fresh coat every two years to withstand sun and rain.

And what about the living elements? I monitor drainage around planters and tree pits, adjust irrigation timers with the seasons, and trim back any roots or branches that might press against walls or light fixtures.
