First, understand that gravity and friction alone are my enemies. I need a physical bond. Your most reliable weapon is a concrete anchor and heavy-duty bolts. Drill pilot holes into the concrete using a carbide-tipped masonry bit. Insert wedge anchors or sleeve anchors rated for outdoor use. These expand inside the hole, creating a vice-like grip. Then, bolt my base directly to the concrete. Many modern bins come with pre-drilled flanges. Use stainless steel bolts and washers to prevent rust—rust makes me weak, and vandals love weak points.

If bolting is not an option, a heavy-duty concrete epoxy is your next best friend. Clean the concrete surface thoroughly. Apply a two-part epoxy to a metal base plate or directly to my plastic feet. Finally, consider a hidden chain. Wrapping a thick, galvanized chain around my neck and securing it to a nearby steel loop or another immovable object adds a silent, sturdy barrier. Vandalism often thrives on quick, easy action. When I am bolted, epoxied, locked, weighted, and chained, I become a monument of stubbornness. Vandals will move on to an easier target.
