Oh, you’ve noticed, haven’t you? Yes, I am one of those benches. The ones with the extra armrests in the middle, or the little metal studs along my edges. You might think I’m being unfriendly, but please, let me explain from my wooden slats—I’m not anti-skater, I’m pro-sitter.

See, when a skateboard grinds across my surface, it scrapes away my paint and splinters my wood. My job is to be a comfortable resting spot for tired legs, a place for lunch breaks, and a perch for people-watching.
