In winter storms, ice accumulation on power lines can lead to them snapping, causing widespread outages. Water mains are also at risk, freezing and bursting in the cold or cracking under shifting, dry soil during droughts.

Understanding these common failure points is the first step in building more resilient systems. From using the correct grade of motor oil to installing smart grid technologies, proactive measures can mitigate the disruptive impact of our planet's increasingly volatile climate.
