Is cast iron resistant to stoloniferous growth in a landscape tree box?
Cast iron is often praised for its durability and strength in urban landscaping, but its effectiveness against stoloniferous growth in tree boxes remains debated. Stoloniferous plants, which spread via horizontal stems (stolons), can aggressively invade tree boxes, competing for nutrients and space.
While cast iron tree boxes are robust and long-lasting, they may not inherently prevent stoloniferous growth. The material itself doesn’t chemically inhibit root or stem penetration.
